Frequently Asked Questions
What is therapy like with you?
Therapy is a conversation that’s thoughtful, direct, and collaborative. I’ll help you make sense of what you’re experiencing and present options for how to make the changes you want to make in your life. My expertise from professional training and personal study works with your expertise about your own needs, feelings, and experiences to build a rich, lively, and impactful healing environment.
How long will I be in therapy?
It depends on your goals. Some people stay in therapy for several years, while others find they’ve gotten what they need after only 3-4 sessions. We’ll figure that out together.
What if I’m not sure therapy will help?
That’s completely valid. The consultation is a low-pressure way to explore that question.
What if I can’t afford therapy?
There are some resources for low-cost or sliding-scale therapy services on the Resources page, as well as some tools you can use on your own. If you still feel stuck or unsure, feel free to schedule a consultation and we can discuss other options and resources. I want to be sure that you feel supported and equipped to get the help you’re looking for.
Is therapy confidential?
Therapy is confidential; in the large majority of cases, I can’t legally tell anyone that you’re in therapy. There are a few safety or legal reasons where limited information may be shared with other people; those will be discussed during intake, but feel free to ask during the consultation if you have any concerns.
